5/27/2018 · For what i have seen Tinder distance is not very accurate, there is a error of about 2 kms in Tinder distance and it’s not because of any problem in the measurement system but because of Tinder’s location privacy rules.
Chatting with a match for which Tinder says the distance is 73 miles. Talking about where we’re from and she says she is currently living in and residing in a city that is actually more like 200 miles away. I say that’s weird because Tinder says you’re 73 miles away, and she says it’s inaccurate.

7/21/2016 · Hope it helps. Since the new update of tinder (on ios) distance can be shown tricky! Plus, I know from experience,if you are in another continent, you still can get your distance be shown as 5 km, instead of thousands of km’s,based on a gps app on your phone, or if you were in another country before.
I didn’t hear from him when he got there so I was checking his tinder . It updated after about a week to show he 8000km away. Also, his tinder ‘online’ status always was an exclamation mark (!) since I met him on tinder (not sure what that means) but then it turned to show nothing. It never shows the red dot which I think means he’s online.
A: Yes this is related to the same area that a similar Privacy vulnerability was found in July 2013. At the time the application architecture change Tinder made to correct the privacy vulnerability was not correct, they changed the JSON data from exact lat/long to a highly precise distance.
