1/19/2011 · First, even with the most optically perfect 3.7mm eyepiece in the most optically perfect, well-collimated scope, the zone within which a 3.7mm EP will come to sharp focus is fairly narrow, especially as the focal ratio of the scope it is used in becomes shorter and the light-cone becomes steeper.
I used Algieba as an evaluation star for the eyepiece. The 3.7mm Ethos produced 190x with the 102mm APO making the split of Algieba very easy. After simply enjoying the view of this showcase double for a while I noted that I was very impressed with how wide the FOV was.

8/21/2010 · Nice review Shane, and you raise a very important point – replacement of existing lenses with fewer but higher quality EP’s – the 13mm and a 6mm Ethoi could replace 6 plossls 32, 26, 15, 10, 8, and 6 mm and pretty much maintain the same FOV for the range and get a gain in magnification across the Fields of view.
