I think most of the issue is the location of the oil pick-up (on account that it’s not near the lowest part of the engine case), and part of the issue is windage pushing oil to the 3/4 cylinder head (while this exists with the Type 1 case, the Type 1 case using an additional deep sump …
One more thing that’s nice with a dry sump is that windage is almost reduced to nothing because the crankshaft is not cutting threw all the oil in the sump, it spinning in a vacuum. Not much else to it, the pump scavenges oil from the sump and pumps it to a tank where the oil re-accumulates, then the pressure section of the pump pushes oil through the filter and cooler, and back to the bearings.
