The Jaguar XK engine is rightly regarded as a classic design that was well in advance of most others at the time of its introduction. Its remarkable qualities were proven in competition during the 1950s and it was good enough to remain in continuous production for very nearly 40 years, although it was showing its age towards the end, as was the machinery on which it was made.

Technicians at XK Engineering carried out a “labour of absolute love” to return Steve’s rare sports car to its original colours and specifications. Coogan, best-known for playing Alan Partridge, handed over his beloved vehicle to the team at XK and they did such a good job that it was awarded the Royal Brierley Cup at the International Jaguar Driver’s Club E-type day.
